We only do something if we genuinely believe we can be the best at it.
It’s the only way to make sure people enjoy what you do.
In 1927 we took our boldest step yet, spending over £60,000 (equivalent to €15m today) on the opening of the Grafton Street café, complete with Harry Clarke windows.
Not only were these designs part of a scheme solavish it risked sinking us more than once, Harry’s windows were also works of true beauty loved by all.
Even our yellow cake boxes became icons of quality and style, proudly carried by people throughthe streets of Dublin.
It’s the same combination of skill and craft, heartand art that we invest into every crafted cup of coffee today.
Be sure, Grafton Street will always be one of the proudest chapters in our book. But it’s important we remember, it is not the book itself!
