A real entrepreneur, Ernest laid the foundations for the business we know today.
Not satisfied with the local milk, he imported a herd of prize-winning Jersey cows to supply top quality milk and cream to our cafes.
This pursuit of excellence led him to build a bakery, employing the best German and Swiss confectioners and Polish bakers -much to everyone’s delight.
Ernest demanded the best of everything and never accepted second best.
Recognising that quality always comes at a price, Ernest’s dry motto was “I want the best, and that’s not good enough.”
