Grafton Street FAQs

What are the main differences between the café today to the Bewley’s I remember?
Over the last two and half years, the entire building has been renovated from top to bottom. The newly renovated building has been opened up further so there are more space and light. Visitors are able to see all the way to the Harry Clarke windows at the back of the café when they come through the front entrance. The café can currently accommodate 500 customers, up from 340 when it closed. The focus on the highest quality of coffee and tea will remain the same.

What’s the seating capacity?
There are just under 500 seats in Bewley’s Grafton Street

I have a gluten allergy – are there products for me?
The rules around “Gluten Free” have changed and, as the kitchen produces items that are not gluten-free, there is a risk of cross-contamination. However, some of our products will be “flourless” e.g. blueberry cheesecake, all of our ice cream and some savoury dishes, there will be certainly be options for those with gluten allergies.

I have a dairy allergy – are there products for me?
Yes, most of our bread is dairy free and we have a number of savoury dishes which are also suitable for special diets.

Do you use local Irish produce/ingredients?
Being an Irish family business, serving locally sourced produce is very important to us as well as our customers. We are using Irish meat, dairy, vegetables and fruit in our dishes and all our bread and cakes are made fresh onsite in our bakery.

Where can I get calorie and other nutritional information on the products?
Our servers in the café will have a detailed breakdown of all nutritional and allergen information available on a tablet to refer to.

What service style is in the cafe?
We have full table service plus a Takeaway counter and Bar Italiano at the entrance.

What is a Bar Italiano?
In Italy, people stand at the counter to have great coffee. They don’t compromise on the quality and love to socialise so we felt that it would be something good to offer people in Dublin, something that would appeal to time-poor people who want the best coffee. You get table service quality whilst keeping more control of your time.

Do you serve Weekend Brunch?
Every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, we serve our Brunch menu (link to menu). This includes Brunch classics such as French Toast, Eggs Royale and the Bewley’s Irish Breakfast. We have live Jazz music every Sunday from 12.30-3pm.

Do you offer catering?
Please email events@bewleys.com with your enquiry.

Do you make charitable donations?
Due to the volume of requests we receive, we’ve initiated a policy whereby we only give sponsorship and donations to our official charity partners, the various local hospices. Each year, as part of this, we sponsor Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice through financial and product donations, and local hospice events throughout the year.

What is the dress code?
We are a café – be comfortable and feel free to come as you are!

Do you serve alcohol?
