2016 marked the 24th year of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice together with Bewley’s. Bewley’s has been the sole sponsor of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice since it first began in 1993.
Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice is one of Ireland’s biggest, longest established and most loved fundraisers in Ireland. Our Irish hospices help patients to live life as fully as possible whilst making the most of precious time with their family and friends. We all know people who have been supported, comforted and cared for by hospice services. Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice, which takes place every September, is the main annual fundraiser for hospice care nationwide.
On Thursday, 15th September 2016, people all over the country gathered in hospices, work places, homes and community centres to host coffee mornings for their local hospices. Domhnall Gleeson, Gabriel Byrne, Mario Rosenstock, Davy Fitzgerald, and a host of other advocates had come on board to raise awareness of the campaign and, on the day, famous faces also turned out in support. Broadcaster Claire Byrne and actor Brendan Gleeson both turned up to share a cup of coffee with the team and locals at St. Francis Hospice in Raheny, Co. Dublin. “Every euro raised locally, stays locally” means that the fundraising in each area ensures the continuation of a vital resource for that local community.
2016 was by far the most successful Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice yet so here’s to 2017 being even bigger and more successful for all our local hospices.
