In 1835, Charles and Samuel Bewley landed an extraordinary cargo into Dublin: 2,099 chests of tea shipped all the way from Canton in China. In daring to be so bold, they signalled the end of the East India tea company’s monopoly and changed the taste of a nation forever.
To this day their spirit of excellence and originality inspire us to create the finest blends of tea. Our master blender carefully selects our tea from the best tea gardens in the world: Kenya, Rwanda, China India and Indonesia; sourcing only the finest teas based on leaf appearance and infusion qualities such as flavour, colour strength and briskness.
If sourcing is a skill then blending is an art. Our signature and multi-award winning Gold Blend tea is a perfect example. A blend of three different origins, crafted for consistent supreme quality: teas grown on the highest slopes of Mount Kenya bring a fresh, rich flavour; tea from Assam in India adds an excellent full bodied character; and Rwandan leaves finish the blend perfectly with a glorious, deep golden colour.
