Paddy Campbell brings his latest Scenario’s Exhibition, entitled Time For Joy, to our café on Grafton Street in Dublin, Ireland. Admission is free and all donations are in aid of Samaritans Ireland. The exhibition is live from the 28th November to the 4th January in Bewley’s café Theatre from 9am to 6pm each day.
The above picture depicts a scene from Bewley’s Oriental Café in 1927. Imagine the astonishment of the first customers when they entered Bewley’s café, Grafton Street in 1927, just a few years after the Civil War which had devastated Ireland, and brought massive destruction to Dublin.
1927 was the year in which Ernest Bewley opened his most exciting and expensive venture yet, the café on Grafton Street. “I want the best of everything, and that’s not good enough” – Ernest Bewley.
